上來廣明闡提無性，下明不遮闡提不見。「云何能遮」正明不遮，「若一闡提有信」已下反顯不遮，「以不信」下順顯不遮。

Above, it has extensively clarified that the icchantika lacks the nature; below, it clarifies that because the icchantika does not see it, it does not avert [retribution]. 'How could it avert?' directly clarifies that it does not avert [it]; from 'If an icchantika possessed faith' downward inversely illustrates that it does not avert [it]; from 'Because of lack of faith' downward directly illustrates that it does not avert [it].
