初明悔過，「若人問」下寄問顯直，有五問答，文皆可知。「以直心」下嘆以顯益，「信有佛性」順理之益、「不名闡提」離邪之益、「名佛弟子」歸正之益、「若受衣」等消施之益。「是名」下結。

First, he explains repenting faults; from 'If someone asks' downward, he reveals straightforwardness by framing questions. There are five questions and answers, and the text in each case can be understood. From 'Because of the straightforward mind' downward, he praises it to reveal its benefits: 'faith in the existence of the buddha-nature' is the benefit of according with principle; 'not termed an icchantika' is the benefit of departing from the heterodox; 'termed a disciple of the Buddha' is the benefit of taking refuge in the correct; 'if receiving robes' and so forth is the benefit of properly receiving offerings. 'This is termed' downward concludes.
