In the latter section, it directly clarifies that the lodestone attracts only upon meeting conditions, and concurrently illustrates that without conditions it does not attract. In the text, the opening words, "Because there are other dharmas, other dharmas arise," directly clarify that the lodestone attracts only upon meeting conditions. "Because other dharmas do not exist, other dharmas are destroyed" concurrently clarifies that the lodestone does not attract without conditions. There being no agent explains with respect to the former phrase that there is no intention in the attraction. There being no destroyer explains with respect to the latter phrase that there is no intention in non-attraction. In saying that because there are other dharmas, other dharmas arise, the dharmas are distinguished into three: first, the stone; second, the iron; third, the separate requirement for a person to hold the stone close to the iron. Among these, viewing the two items of stone and iron in relation to each other, one may also say that with the existence of the other, the other arises, for the difference between stone and iron makes both termed "other dharmas." Truly, because that other dharma of iron exists, the other dharma of the lodestone gives rise to the function of attracting. Viewing the three dharmas in relation to each other, one may also say that with the existence of the other, the other arises, for the difference between person and stone makes both termed "other dharmas." Truly, because that other dharma of the person exists, the other dharma of the lodestone gives rise to the function of attracting. That because other dharmas do not exist, other dharmas are destroyed can be understood by analogy to the preceding.
