From here down, the third part is knowing both arising and severing together. Within this are three parts: First, knowing the severing of goodness. "The Buddha observes that sentient beings are endowed with good and non-good" is knowing what was previously accomplished. "Although this person is endowed with it, they will soon be able to sever it" is knowing what they will sever. "Why is this?" and what follows explains it: because they cannot draw near to friends, listen to the Dharma, contemplate, or practice as spoken. From "Because of this..." downward is the conclusion.
