第八次明五欲障道不障道義。應先辨諍，諍相可知。次應論理，亦障不障。不障下果，能障那含及羅漢果。義既兩兼，不得偏執。文顯可知。

Eighth is to clarify the meaning of the five desires obstructing or not obstructing the path. One should first clarify the controversy; the aspects of the controversy are understandable. Next, one should discuss the principle: they both obstruct and do not obstruct. They do not obstruct the lower fruits, but can obstruct the fruits of anāgāmin and arhat. Since the meaning encompasses both, one must not cling to one side. The text is clear and understandable.
