第四謗無聖人之中有九復次：一有煩惱時道不能壞，無煩惱時道則無用，明無聖人。先總說無，「何以故」下破有成無。於中，先明有煩惱時道不能破，後明無時道無所用，下牒結無。

In the fourth, slandering that there are no noble persons, there are nine points: First, when defilements exist, the path cannot destroy them; when defilements do not exist, the path is useless; this clarifies that there are no noble persons. First it generally states their non-existence; from "Why is that?" onward, it refutes existence to establish non-existence. Therein, it first clarifies that when defilements exist, the path cannot destroy them; later it clarifies that when they do not exist, the path has no utility; below, it takes this up and concludes non-existence.
