自下第三重顯向前後段中義。迦葉初問，「未來云何能生善根」。下佛答之，先立二喻。「未來燈日雖復未生亦能破闇」是一喻也，現雖未生當能破之。「未來之生能生眾生」是二喻也，十二緣中未來生支能生眾生。次合、後結。

From here below, the third part re-elucidates the meaning in the aforementioned latter section. Kāśyapa first asks: "How can the future give rise to wholesome roots?" Below, the Buddha answers it, first establishing two similes. "Although a future lamp or sun has not yet arisen, it can still dispel darkness" is the first simile: although not yet arisen in the present, in the future it will be able to dispel it. "Future birth can give rise to sentient beings" is the second simile: among the twelve links, the future link of birth can give rise to sentient beings. Next is the application, and afterward the conclusion.
