In the second reliance, it first takes it up, next explains it, and finally concludes it generally. From 'not yet attained' onward distinguishes it from the rest. In the extensive explanation, there are six distinct clauses: the first five cultivate good, and the last one abandons evil. In the first five, the first four are self-benefit, and the last one is benefiting others. In self-benefit, 'if one attains the correct Dharma' is the beginning of one's own share, where hearing the Dharma is called 'attaining'; 'receiving and upholding the correct Dharma' is the completion of one's own share, where reciting and intoning is called 'upholding'. 'Hearing the Dharma from the Buddha' is the beginning of superior progress; from 'in accordance with what was heard' downward is the completion of superior progress. These are self-benefit. From 'in turn' downward is benefiting others. Abandoning evil can be known. 'This is called' generally concludes it. In distinguishing differences below, 'not yet attained the second and third dwelling-places' distinguishes it from the subsequent. Among the four fruits, the srotāpanna has not yet attained the dwelling-place of the sakṛdāgāmin, and the sakṛdāgāmin has not yet attained the dwelling-place of the anāgāmin. 'Called a bodhisattva having already received prediction' reveals its difference from the preceding: not being the same as the preceding ordinary person, it is called a bodhisattva; being genuinely able to accomplish the path through the eight marks to deliver beings, it therefore receives the Buddha's prediction. According to the *Bodhisattvabhūmi*, bodhisattvas prior to the bhūmis also receive the Buddha's prediction, but only from the first bhūmi onward can they extensively receive many predictions in the ten directions; therefore it is discussed specifically.
