From here below is the second part: Vaiḍūrya asks questions, and the Tathāgata replies. Herein there are six: 1. Vaiḍūrya, about to arrive, first manifests the mark of light; 2. discriminating where the light comes from; 3. Vaiḍūrya's person arriving to make offerings to the Buddha; 4. the questions and answers brushing away the marks of coming and going; 5. the questions and answers discriminating the Dharma; 6. Vaiḍūrya hearing the Dharma, rejoicing, and grasping its understanding. The textual divisions can be known: The noble transformation has its cause, so he first manifests the mark; the mark has its source, so next he discriminates it; having manifested the mark, there must be a response, so next his person arrives; the marks of coming obscure the real, so next they are brushed away; his coming is for revealing the Dharma, so next he discriminates the Dharma; having obtained the Dharma to his heart's content, he must grasp its understanding.
