From here below is the second part, against the previous grasping at original non-existence by Guṇarāja, clarifying that it is not originally non-existent. The mind of true consciousness is originally covered by delusion; it is not that there was previously no defilement, yet it does not combine with those fetters of greed and the like; it is not that there was originally no purity, yet because there was originally defilement, it can therefore be liberated. In the text there are two parts: first, clarifying that at the time of an ordinary person, the mind's characteristics are defiled while its essential nature is pure; second, from "buddhas and bodhisattvas eternally destroy greed" downward, clarifying based on the preceding meaning that there is liberation.
