住處者，具存應言拘尸那竭，此無翻，或翻為角城，有三角。《華嚴》云「角城南」者，即其城也。或云蓑草城，或言茅城，此城草覆因以名之。或云仙人城，昔仙人壽長崇其人，以人名名於住處。亦以名名國，故言拘尸國。

'Dwelling place': Fully stated, it should be Kuśinagara. This is untranslated; or translated as 'Corner City', because it has three corners. When the Avataṃsaka says 'south of Corner City', that is this very city. Or it is called 'Straw-Raincoat Grass City', or called 'Mao-Grass City', named because this city was covered in thatch grass. Or it is called 'City of the Ṛṣis'; in ancient times, the ṛṣis had long lifespans and the people respected them, so they named the dwelling place after the persons. The country was also named after the persons, hence it is called the country of Kuśi.
