又就今昔論總別，有四句義：自有總是別非，合曰三德涅槃也；自有別是而總非，如昔日涅槃唯是斷無為涅槃也；總別俱是者，昔別是今總是；俱非者，昔總非今別非也。

Furthermore, in terms of past and present discussing general and specific, there is the meaning of a tetralemma: there are cases where the general is correct and the specific is incorrect, which united is called the nirvāṇa of the three virtues; there are cases where the specific is correct and the general is incorrect, such as the past nirvāṇa which was only the unconditioned nirvāṇa of cessation; where both general and specific are correct: the past specific is correct and the present general is correct; where both are incorrect: the past general is incorrect and the present specific is incorrect.
