一、作大悲不等難。彼國有總名，此間無圓稱。如來但念彼土眾生不受此方，今殘彼有圓名解義，此無圓名則不解圓義，故悲不爾，涅槃來於此土便成無益也。

First, formulating the objection that great compassion would not be equal: That country has the general name, but this country lacks the consummate appellation. If the Tathāgata was mindful only of the sentient beings of that land and did not accept those of this country, now leaving them with a consummate name to understand the meaning, whereas here without a consummate name one would not understand the consummate meaning, then his compassion would not be like this, and nirvāṇa’s coming to this land would then become useless.
