第三、約摩訶難涅槃。涅槃是摩訶涅槃，涅槃既不可翻，摩訶是涅槃，摩訶涅槃亦不可翻。又，摩訶含三義，翻摩訶者涅槃含三德，亦一解說翻涅槃也，若言摩訶非圓名，涅槃是圓名者，此摩訶非涅槃摩訶，涅槃非摩訶涅槃也。涅槃含三德，名既圓；摩訶含三義，摩訶亦是圓名。皆不可翻也，皆可翻也。

Third, challenging nirvāṇa by reference to mahā: Nirvāṇa is mahānirvāṇa. Since nirvāṇa cannot be translated, and mahā is nirvāṇa, mahānirvāṇa also cannot be translated. Furthermore, mahā contains three meanings; if one translates mahā, and nirvāṇa contains three virtues, then one should also explain and translate nirvāṇa. If one says that mahā is not a consummate name whereas nirvāṇa is a consummate name, then this mahā is not the mahā of nirvāṇa, and nirvāṇa is not the nirvāṇa of mahā. Nirvāṇa contains three virtues and its name is already consummate; mahā contains three meanings, so mahā is also a consummate name. Both cannot be translated, or both can be translated.
