The text and meaning within them are vast and broad; how could they be described in full? Therefore the sūtra says: "After one or two Ganges [sands of aeons], one only begins to catch a faint glimpse of it; after three or four Ganges [sands of aeons], one is finally able to understand a fraction of its meaning." Emperor Wu of Liang said: "As for nirvāṇa, its principle surpasses the myriad goods; its reality transcends the hundred negations. Emptiness upon emptiness cannot plumb its true limit; mystery upon mystery cannot exhaust its subtle gateway. Unless one's virtue is equal to impartiality and one's mind accords with non-arising, how could the golden furnace and jade chamber be easily entered?"
