贊曰：第二隨答。為二：此答受持。我今滅度，末代無依，故勸受持勅令不妄，為令未來近受天中之法樂、捨四趣之淪喪，遠示菩提之妙相，出三界而超驤。經在有善植根，法滅便斷佛種。佛謂圓覺，種名為因慧。學故慧生，不學種斷。

The commentary says: Second is answering accordingly. It has two parts: this answers receiving and upholding. 'I am now entering extinction, and future generations will have no reliance; therefore, I urge receiving and upholding, and command that it not be forgotten, so that in the near future they may receive the Dharma-joy among the devas and leave behind drowning in the four destinies, and from afar reveal the marvelous marks of bodhi, transcending and galloping out of the three realms. When the sūtra exists, there is planting of wholesome roots; when the Dharma is extinguished, the Buddha-lineage is then severed.' 'Buddha' means complete awakening; 'lineage' refers to causal wisdom. Because of study, wisdom arises; without study, the lineage is severed.
