Second, as for the one who confers the vyākaraṇa, a buddha has three bodies (trikāya). One view says that if conferring a vyākaraṇa on the two vehicles or pre-bhūmi bodhisattvas, it is solely the nirmāṇakāya; if conferring a vyākaraṇa on bodhisattvas of the great bhūmis, it extends to the saṃbhogakāya. Now it is said that the nirmāṇakāya also transforms bodhisattvas of the great bhūmis, and the nirmāṇakāya also transforms ordinary beings and the two vehicles. Were it not so, it would contradict the Buddhabhūmyupadeśa, which states that 'through the augmentation of spiritual power they are made to temporarily see [him].' Although the dharmakāya expounds the Dharma, expounding the Dharma and the meaning of conferring a vyākaraṇa are different. It can be said that the one who confers a vyākaraṇa must be the nirmāṇakāya and the other-enjoyment body.
