經曰「世尊記曰」以下，第二佛記生。謂乃至下品行者，一念稱彌勒名皆得生，況能修福持戒上品而何不生耶？
From the sūtra's words 'The World-Honoured One conferred a vyākaraṇa, saying' onward, this is the second part, the Buddha conferring a vyākaraṇa of rebirth. That is to say, even practitioners of the lower grade who invoke Maitreya's name in a single thought all attain rebirth; how much more so for the upper grade who are able to cultivate merit and uphold the precepts—how could they not be reborn?
