經曰「爾時諸剎利」以下，第六剎利眾。剎利者分田主，此義如藏論也。越次取證者，有二：一漸、二頓。頓即初果而越中二果得羅漢，漸即凡夫倍離欲及令離欲，入見道倍得中二果。《阿含經》或有不越次取證者，今此經略故不說。

From the sūtra's words 'At that time the various kṣatriyas' onward, this is the sixth, the kṣatriyas' assembly. A 'kṣatriya' is an owner who divides the fields; this meaning is as explained in the Kośa treatise. Regarding 'realizing the fruits by skipping stages', there are two types: gradual and sudden. 'Sudden' means being at the first fruit and skipping the middle two fruits to attain arhatship. 'Gradual' means that an ordinary person, having already twofold detached from desire or being caused to detach from desire, enters the path of seeing and directly obtains the middle two fruits. In the Āgama there are also those who do not skip stages to realize the fruits; the present sūtra abbreviates and therefore does not mention them.
