問：《賢愚經》云「從迦諾加忖陀佛，至第九百九十九佛，共生一大劫。第千樓至佛，獨出一劫。」又《樓炭經》亦爾。彼經云一大劫，以何為量？答：有說八十劫為一大劫，謂成空四十劫，佛不出而相從，名一劫。

Question: The Xianyu jing says: 'From Krakucchanda Buddha up to the nine hundred and ninety-ninth Buddha, they are all born together in one great kalpa. The one-thousandth, Rucika Buddha, appears alone in one kalpa.' The Loutan jing says likewise. What is taken as the measure of that sūtra's 'one great kalpa'? Answer: Some say that eighty kalpas make one great kalpa: meaning that during the forty kalpas of formation and voidness, Buddhas do not appear, but are grouped together and called one kalpa.
