「『「寧當燃身破眼目，不忍行殺食眾生。
諸佛所說慈悲經，彼經中說行慈悲，
寧破骨髓出頭腦，不忍噉肉食眾生。」

" ' "I would rather burn my body and destroy my eyes
Than bear to commit slaughter and eat sentient beings.
In the sūtras of kindness and compassion taught by all Buddhas,
In those sūtras it is taught to practice kindness and compassion;
I would rather smash my bones and marrow and tear out my brain
Than bear to chew flesh and eat sentient beings." '
