肇曰：將顯佛土殊好不同，故通現十方也。諸長者子皆久發道心而未修淨土，欲說來供之情，啟發淨土之志，故因其蓋而現之也。

[Seng]zhao says: Intending to show that buddha-lands are exceptionally fine and distinct, he therefore universally displayed the ten directions. The sons of the elders had all long resolved upon the mind of the Way but had not yet cultivated the pure lands; wishing to express the sentiment of their coming to make offerings and to inspire their aspiration for the pure land, he therefore displayed them by means of the canopy.
