1.28

肇曰：大士處世猶日月升天，有目之士誰不知識。別本云「眾所敬仰」，什曰：梵本云「多知多識」，顯德應時故物咸知識，物咸知識故敬之者眾，此義則出也。

[Seng]zhao says: A mahāsattva dwelling in the world is like the sun and moon rising in the sky; among people with eyes, who would not know and recognize them?
Another edition says 'revered and looked up to by all'. [Kumāra]jīva says: The Sanskrit text says 'widely known and widely recognized'; manifesting their virtues in accord with the times, beings all know and recognize them; because beings all know and recognize them, those who revere them are many; this meaning thus emerges.
