[Seng]zhao says: A land may be defiled yet can become pure, and when pure can again become defiled. Awakening to impermanence because of this, they thus attained the purification of the Dharma-eye. The purification of the Dharma-eye is the path of the srotāpanna. Having first seen the traces of the path, it is therefore called the Dharma-eye. 'Dust and defilement' refers to the eighty-eight fetters.
