什曰：柔，謂軟鈍也。於實相法未能深入，軟智軟信隨順不違，故名柔順忍也。肇曰：心柔智順堪受實相，未及無生，名柔順忍。

[Kumāra]jīva says: 'Compliant' means soft and malleable. Not yet able to penetrate deeply into the Dharma of true reality, with malleable wisdom and malleable faith he accords without opposition; hence it is called 'compliant endurance'. [Seng]zhao says: With a malleable mind and compliant wisdom, he was capable of receiving true reality, though not yet reaching non-arising; this is called compliant endurance.
