10.146

什曰：四魔合為三怨，一煩惱、二天魔、三外道也。如來滅後，月蓋道力未具，若不加威神，則為魔所壞不能降伏，故請加威神。肇曰：聞法供養欣欲行之，然經道深遠，非己力所弘，故願加威神也。

[Kumāra]jīva says: The four māras are combined into three adversaries: first, defilements; second, the devaputra-māra; third, non-Buddhists. After the Tathāgata's extinction, Candracchatra's power in the Way was not yet complete; if not reinforced by spiritual power, he would be ruined by māras and unable to subdue them, hence he requested the reinforcement of spiritual power. [Seng]zhao says: Hearing of the offering of the Dharma, he joyfully wished to practice it; yet the path of the sūtras is profound and far-reaching, not something his own power alone could propagate, so he prayed for the reinforcement of spiritual power.
