肇曰：淨名化導既訖，魔知其不悋，故從請也。菩薩之道一切無悋，想能見還也。生曰：女誠不樂天宮，故不去。苟主遣之，亦不得自在，故還乞之也。恐不必得，是以說法也。

[Seng]zhao says: The Pure Name's conversion and guidance being finished, Māra knew he was unbegrudging and thus made the request. The Way of the bodhisattva is entirely free of begrudging, so he expected they would be returned to him. [Dao]sheng says: The women truly did not take pleasure in the heavenly palace, so they would not go. If the master were to send them away, they would likewise not be free to do as they pleased, so he begged for them back. Fearing he might not necessarily obtain them, he spoke on the Dharma for this reason.
