4.250

什曰：是第七日。所以乃至第七方來譏者，欲令其功德滿、心淳熟也。生曰：本期七日而滿也。須滿然後呵者，滿為功成必恃焉。

[Kumāra]jīva says: This was the seventh day. The reason he only came to criticize on the seventh day was that he wished his merit to be complete and his mind to be ripe and pure. [Dao]sheng says: It was originally set for seven days and then completed. The reason he waited for it to be completed before admonishing him was that when it was completed, the achievement was finished and he would certainly rely upon it.
