6.111

什曰，群生長寢，菩薩覺之。肇曰：自覺覺彼，謂之佛也。慈既自悟又能覺彼，可名為佛也。

[Kumāra]jīva says: The multitude of beings sleep long; the bodhisattva awakens them. [Seng]zhao says: Awakening oneself and awakening others is called 'buddha'. Since benevolence has both awakened itself and is able to awaken others, it can be called buddha [benevolence].
