什曰：由欲著情深，故廣生結業。亦以愛潤，所以受生。是以於諸結中偏舉欲貪也。肇曰：愛為生本，長眾結縛，凡在有身靡不由之。生曰：欲者，貪使在我，故受身者矣。

[Kumāra]jīva says: Because emotional attachment born of desire is deep, fettering karmas are widely produced. It is also because of being moistened by craving that one receives rebirth. Therefore, among all fetters, desire and greed are singled out. [Seng]zhao says: Craving is the root of rebirth and fosters numerous bonds; everyone who possesses a body comes about through it. [Dao]sheng says: Desire is greed making one possessive, which is why one takes on a body.
