Therefore, among all fetters, desire and greed are singled out. [Seng]zhao says: Craving is the root of rebirth and fosters numerous bonds; everyone who possesses a body comes about through it. [Dao]sheng says: Desire is greed making one possessive, which is why one takes on a body.
