6.184

[Kumāra]jīva says: Dharmas have no fixed marks; marks arise from delusion, falsely imagining and differentiating between what is attractive and what is ugly. Once the attractive and the repulsive take shape, the mind of desire arises on its own; therefore, it is the fundamental basis of desire. [Seng]zhao says: Dharmas are neither fine nor bad; false conceptual differentiation calls them fine or bad. Once fine and bad take shape, greed and desire arise. [Dao]sheng says: Falsely differentiating dharmas, there is consequently that which can be greedily clung to.
