什曰：三十七品三乘通用，菩薩兼以六度為道品，取其親附守護、利益成就，義同三益，故類之知識。

[Kumāra]jīva says: The thirty-seven factors are common to all three vehicles; the bodhisattva additionally takes the six pāramitās as factors of awakening. Taking their drawing near, guarding, benefiting, and accomplishing, their meaning is identical to the three benefits; hence they are categorized as spiritual friends.
