8.171

Thereupon the bowl of food completely satiated the assembled gathering, yet was still not diminished. Those bodhisattvas, śrāvakas, devas, and humans who ate this food experienced ease and happiness in body, just like the bodhisattvas in the realm Adorned with All Joys. Moreover, all their pores emitted wondrous fragrance, also like the fragrance of the trees in the All-Fragrances realm. At that time, Vimalakīrti asked the bodhisattvas of All-Fragrances: "By what means does Fragrance Accumulation Tathāgata preach the Dharma?" Those bodhisattvas said: "The Tathāgata of our land does not preach with letters; he only uses all fragrances to cause devas and humans to enter disciplined conduct."
