9.34

肇曰：阿難見香飯所益，謂佛事理極於此，故廣示其事，令悟佛道之無方也。此土眾生見佛妙光自入道檢，亦有餘益，但以光為主，下皆類此。

[Seng]zhao says: Ānanda saw the benefits of the fragrant rice and thought that the principle of the buddha's work was exhausted by this; therefore [the Buddha] extensively reveals these works to make him realize that the Buddha's Path has no fixed modality. Sentient beings of this land, seeing the wondrous light of the Buddha, naturally enter the discipline of the Path. There are other benefits as well, but light is taken as primary; the rest below are analogous to this.
