[Kumāra]jīva says: This is the activity of luminous wisdom. With the Tathāgata it is fully realized, so it is named 'wisdom.' Bodhisattvas see it yet have not fully realized it, but are able to bear it without falling back, so it is named 'forbearance.' [Seng]zhao says: The reason why the bodhisattva's wisdom of non-arising is solely called 'forbearance' is that because great awakening is not yet complete and the power of wisdom is still weak, although they awaken to non-arising, they are only able to endure it, not yet having leisure for effortless mastery; hence it is called 'forbearance.' The Tathāgata's power of wisdom is fully complete, being completely autonomous in dharmas with constant ease, so there is no longer the name 'forbearance.'
