[Seng]zhao says: Resentment arises from the self; when there is no self, there is no contention. Another recension says: "Through the dharma of non-self, one gives rise to patience." [Kumāra]jīva says: When first practicing patience, one seeks blessings for the self; when the practice has deepened, one forgets the self and is patient. Furthermore, if one can realize that the self is non-self, there is no one who receives suffering; because there is no one who receives suffering, there is nothing one cannot endure. If one practices patience through non-self, one's blessings will be inexhaustible, just as fire produced from water cannot be extinguished by anyone.
