[Seng]zhao says: Bodhi takes quiescent extinction as its mark, and saṃsāra shares the same mark. Yet the gods debase saṃsāra and esteem bodhi; although this is called a superior seeking, it further generates defilement. One should open up the correct path to cause them to abandon discrimination; why display to them a prophecy of the Way and augment their views? [Dao]sheng says: He resolves the gods' mind that holds a view of bodhi; first he rebukes, and then he instructs. The rebuke is to dispel clinging; the instruction is to resolve views. Clinging is a fault and defilement, which is appropriately dispelled by rebuke; views concern reaching the principle, which must be resolved through instruction.
