[Kumāra]jīva says: "The previous four lines mixed the discussion of mundane and supramundane wisdom and upāya; these four lines specifically clarify supramundane wisdom and upāya. It is also said that the above generally unified wisdom and upāya, while this purport clarifies applying wisdom and upāya in the midst of illness, so that one does not destroy the body to realize verification. If one takes the body as real, when illness arrives one will be distressed. If one knows the body is unreal, one will dwell in illness without turmoil. Supramundane wisdom also has depth and shallowness: impermanence is the initial characteristic among the empty, so impermanence is spoken of first. Impermanence is the shallow wisdom among the supramundane."
