'Furthermore, Kāśyapa, of the boundless bodhisattvas in the ten directions, there are those from whom someone begs for hands, feet, ears, or nose; head, eyes, marrow, or brain; blood, flesh, skin, or bones; hamlets, towns, or cities; wives, children, male or female slaves; elephants, horses, or carriages; gold, silver, or vaiḍūrya; giant clams, carnelian, coral, or amber; genuine pearls, mother-of-pearl, or conch shells; clothing, food, or drink. Those who beg in this manner are mostly bodhisattvas abiding in inconceivable liberation who go to test them through the power of upāya, in order to make them firm.'
