"Therefore, Mañjuśrī, the pṛthagjana is capable of reciprocity toward the Buddha's teachings, whereas the śrāvaka is not. Why is this? When a pṛthagjana hears the Buddha's teachings, he can give rise to the unexcelled mind directed toward the Path and not cut off the Three Jewels. Even if a śrāvaka hears the Buddha's teachings, powers, fearlessnesses, and so forth for his entire life, he will never be able to produce the unexcelled intention toward the Path."
