Next, it versifies the supernatural transformation manifested previously. "Having seen the Great Sage through his supernatural transformation" versifies and praises the preceding merging of the canopies. "Having" (既) means "already" (已); "through" (以) means "using" (用). Since they had previously seen the Buddha use his supernatural powers to merge the canopies into one, it says "having seen [him] through his supernatural transformation." From "Universally manifesting" downward, it versifies the phenomena manifested previously in the canopy. Previously, within the canopy, the phenomena of both this land and other regions were universally manifested; now, this selectively versifies the phenomena of other regions, whereas the phenomena of this land are separately versified later. "Universally manifesting the immeasurable lands of the ten directions" manifests the places of his transformation. "The Buddhas within them" manifests the masters of the transformation. "Expounding the Dharma" manifests the aspects of the transformation. "Whereupon all saw and heard" means that because of the Buddha's universal manifestation, all the great assembly within this gathering completely saw the immeasurable Buddha-lands of the ten directions, saw those Buddhas, and heard their teachings.
