3.26

問曰：下說香積取飯，遣化而往；今此取坐，何故不然？直現神力，化隨時變，非可一定。又香積國有人欲來，須化引接；此無來者，故無化往。

Question: Below, it is said that to fetch food from Fragrance Accumulated (Gandhahastin / Sarvagandhasugandha) an emanation was dispatched to go; now in this fetching of seats, why was it not like that? [Answer:] He directly manifested spiritual power; emanations change according to the circumstance and cannot be fixed. Furthermore, in the land of Fragrance Accumulated there were people who wished to come, so an emanation was needed to guide and receive them; here there was no one coming, therefore no emanation went.
