就此品中五門分別：一就維摩顯德分別、二就法分別、三釋來意、四對上辨異、五隨文釋。初就維摩顯德如何？彼德有二：一、解脫體。內正觀力見法身佛；二、解脫用，遠接妙喜安置此土令此眾見。前即自利，後即利他。顯德如是。

Regarding this chapter, there are five gates of analysis: first, distinguishing based on Vimalakīrti's manifestation of virtues; second, distinguishing based on phenomena; third, explaining the reason for coming; fourth, distinguishing differences in contrast to the above; fifth, explaining according to the text. First, what is distinguishing based on Vimalakīrti's manifestation of virtues? His virtues are twofold: first, the essence of liberation: by the power of inner correct contemplation he sees the dharmakāya Buddha; second, the function of liberation: reaching afar to take Abhirati and place it in this land, causing this assembly to see it. The former is benefiting oneself, and the latter is benefiting others. The manifestation of virtues is like this.
