Second, discerning the characteristics of the paramārtha siddhānta in terms of expressible characteristics: as the Dazhidu lun states: 'All is real, all is unreal, all is both real and unreal, all is neither real nor unreal—these are all called the true mark of all dharmas.' In various sūtras in such places, the Buddha expounds the characteristics of the paramārtha siddhānta. This is precisely what our school explains as the meaning of entering the paramārtha through the four gates. Thus the Mūlamadhyamakakārikā states: 'If someone oriented toward the Path hears the four propositions expounded and immediately enters, that is the true mark of all dharmas; if someone hears the four propositions expounded and conceives graspings in their mind, they are all frivolous discourse.'
