Answer: When Sumeru enters a mustard seed, the small does not hinder the large, and the large does not obstruct the small; therefore it is called inconceivable. Now, the presence of the fetters and delusions of defilement does not obstruct wisdom and nirvāṇa, and wisdom and nirvāṇa do not obstruct the fetters and delusions of defilement; this alone is called inconceivable. If it were a case of entering nirvāṇa with delusions absent and wisdom present being called inconceivable, one could counter by demanding: one should likewise speak of inconceivable where the small is absent and the large is present!
