3.57

所以前明四悉檀義者，正是述一家通教說法與古今說法，運用不同也。前明三觀竪破諸法，略為數十番。次此下明四教所詮，約諸教立義，其尋覽者，則知與諸禪師及三論師，破義及立義，意不同也。

The reason why the doctrine of the four siddhāntas was clarified previously is precisely to state that the way our lineage comprehensively teaches the Dharma and expounds it differs in application from ancient and modern expositions. Previously, clarifying the three contemplations vertically refuted various dharmas in several tens of turns in brief. Next, below this, we clarify that which is expressed by the four teachings, establishing doctrines with reference to the various teachings, so that those who investigate and peruse it will know that the intention in refuting and establishing doctrines differs from those of the various meditation masters and Sanlun masters.
