3.97

第一、約三藏教明位，釋淨、無垢、稱義者，尋佛三藏教赴緣多塗，言其正要，不出四門入道：一，有門；二，空門；三，有無門；四，非有非無門。今正用《毘曇》有門，以判位也；三門明菩薩義，既不度，豈可繆論！今約有門釋淨、無垢、稱義，即為三意：一，明開三乘；二，略明三藏教辨菩薩位；三，釋淨、無垢、稱名。

First, clarifying the stages and explaining the meaning of Pure, Stainless, and Name in terms of the Tripiṭaka teaching: examining the Buddha's Tripiṭaka teaching in responding to capacities, there are many avenues, but speaking of its main essentials, they do not exceed four gates of entering the path: first, the gate of existence; second, the gate of emptiness; third, the gate of existence and emptiness; fourth, the gate of neither existence nor emptiness. Now we precisely use the gate of existence in the Abhidharma to classify the stages; as the three gates' clarification of the bodhisattva's meaning does not cross over, how could one discuss them in error! Now explaining the meaning of Pure, Stainless, and Name in terms of the gate of existence has three sections: first, clarifying the opening of the three vehicles; second, briefly clarifying the bodhisattva stages distinguished in the Tripiṭaka teaching; third, explaining the names Pure, Stainless, and Name.
