"Their fame is high and far-reaching, surpassing Mount Sumeru": the third part concludes [the explanation of fearlessness], which has two parts: first, concluding the external [fearlessness]; second, concluding the internal [fearlessness]. The first two clauses conclude the external fearlessness: the bodhisattvas' external transformation of others pervades the ten directions and the ten realms, hence it is termed "high and far-reaching." Another explanation is that the buddhas of the Shared and Separate Teachings are like Mount Sumeru; here, the vajra-mind of the Perfect Teaching is higher than the buddhas of those two teachings, and so it says "surpassing Mount Sumeru." Furthermore, Mount Sumeru is solidly rooted, high, and far-reaching, just as the Dharma-nature is unmoving and its principle is exalted. Supreme wisdom has the efficacy to reveal this principle, and so it says "surpassing Mount Sumeru."
