"Immeasurable merits [...] also not in vain": third is summarizing and concluding the praise of virtues neighboring the fruit. "Immeasurable merits are all accomplished" explains the fulfillment of their own practice. "Immeasurable buddha-lands are all adorned and purified" explains the fulfillment of transforming others. "Those who see or hear them never fail to receive benefit" means that the dharmakāya is neither form nor sound, yet in accord with sensory response, those who see or hear it will certainly obtain its benefit, enabling them to attain worldly and supramundane bliss. As for "all that they do is also not in vain," táng means empty, and juān means cast aside, which is to say lost. Explaining their own practice: whatever their minds perform spontaneously accords with principle and will certainly constitute a superior cause, reliably evoking its fruit; therefore it is not cast aside in vain. Explaining the transformation of others: although sentient beings may not enter the supreme meaning, they do not lose the three siddhāntas; taking refuge, generating goodness, and eliminating evil, they obtain benefit, and the transformative merit reverts to oneself, neither being cast aside in vain.
